Mr Ramkishan Balakumar

Mr Ramkishan Balakumar is a Consultant ENT Surgeon based at Great Western Hospital in Swindon, where he has been practicing since 2023. He is experienced in all aspects of ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat) care, with specialist interests in Paediatric ENT, Rhinology, and Facial plastics surgery. He completed his surgical training through the highly competitive Severn Deanery programme, gaining experience across several leading centres in the South-West, including the renowned Bristol Royal Hospital for Children.

As the Paediatric ENT Lead at his trust, Mr Balakumar treats a wide range of conditions in children, including glue ear, tonsillitis, nasal obstruction, and airway concerns. He is known for his friendly, approachable manner and his commitment to providing a calm, family-centred experience for both children and their parents.

Mr Balakumar is also the Facial plastics Lead for his department and a core member of the Skin Cancer Multidisciplinary Team, offering expert care in the surgical removal and reconstruction of head and neck skin cancers. He has a strong passion for medical education and is the Course Director for the South-West Rhinology and Facial Plastics Cadaveric Dissection Course. His academic work includes several peer-reviewed publications and presentations at international conferences, where he has received multiple awards for his work.

Born in Sri Lanka, Mr Balakumar is fluent in both English and Tamil. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family, playing the Dhol (an Indian drum), and training in boxing.
